Corso Riggs

The location of this NPC is unknown.

Corso Riggs is a cheerful, disarmingly optimistic mercenary soldier. Raised as a rancher's son on the rough frontier of Ord Mantell, Corso developed a mixture of naive innocence and primitive toughness, wrapped with old-fashioned chivalry.

In addition to his gung-ho enjoyment of a good, dirty fight and his encyclopedic knowledge of weapons, Corso remains a ray of sunshine in even the worst circumstances. He has no sense of his own mortality and is absolutely convinced he's going to live forever. Corso also has a soft spot for damsels in distress, even when it's clear they're up to no good.

Dislikes: Hurting for profit, hurting women no matter what they did, working with Sith or Imperials

One of the most important things you should do when you get Corso is turn off his harpoon shot. It isn't fun having your enemies pulled behind your cover.

You receive this companion on the starter planet Ord Mantell.

He is a ranged Tank. He uses heavy armor and blaster pistols/rifle.

Am I a bad girlfriend if I like flirting with others just so I can watch Corso get jealous?
~4000 affection to get to the first kiss, and 6000 before they start going at it like rabbits. So much for being proper gentleman.

Corso has two different toggled stances.

Guard Stance is what you'll want activated when you are soloing or when a tank is missing from your group dynamic.

Sniper Sight is what you will want to activate when you are in a group that already has a tank or if you need extra DPS while soloing, but don't need a tank to absorb damage.

If you're trying to gain Corso AP, here's a list of his likes/dislikes, beginning with gifts (0 = does not like, + = likes, ++ = loves, +++ = favorite):

Courting: + (sometimes ++)
Cultural Artifact: +
Imperial Memorabilia: 0
Luxury: +
Military Gear: ++
Republic Memorabilia: + (sometimes ++)
Technology: +
Trophy: + (sometimes ++)
Underworld Good: 0
Weapon: +++

If you want to conserve your less effective gifts for other companions, stick primarily to weapons and military gear with the occasional courting gift, Republic memorabilia, or trophy.

As far as his conversational likes and dislikes go, his Codex entry indicates that he likes "Protecting the weak, being nice to ladies, punishing bad guys" and dislikes "Hurting for profit, hurting women no matter what they did, working with Sith or Imperials".

While I highly suggest not picking an answer just because "Corso would like it", it's still nice to know what you can say and/or give to get on his good side. Remember: an answer he doesn't particularly favor will still only lose you 1AP under most circumstances. Don't ruin your story just to get on his good side, even if you're trying to woo him! :) And you can always hit ESC mid-conversation if you want to start over.

I looked everywhere there, and we do not have, so that will add to the list of responses to Esseles Corso Riggs.
l.s.- light side, x - any, 1/2 1/3 2/3 - one of two choices.
1) 1/2, 2, 2/3, 1,1. (60 affection)
2) x, x, x, x, x, x, x. (0 affection)
3) 3. (15 affection)
4) 1/2, x, 1, 1/2, 1, 1. (45 affection)
5) 1/3, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2. (100 affection + 150 l.s)
6) 2, 1/2, 1/2, x. (15 affection)
7) 3. (15 affection)
8) x, x. (0 affection)
9) 3, 1/2, 1. (30 affection)
10) 2, 2. (30 affection)
11) 3, x, 3. (30 affection)
12) 1. (40 affection + 100 l.s)
13) x, x, x, x. (0 affection)
14) x. (0 affection)
Counting the data we obtain 380 affection and 250 light side points,
Smugglers are following the dark side will be 260 affection and 250 dark side points.

5000 affection with Corso is one of the trigger points for continuing his series of quests. I was at 4999, gave him a gift and it triggered.

All these comments saying "must disable harpoon shot!" clearly are playing a gunslinger. If you are playing a scoundrel (as I am) you will find the harpoon shot must useful becasue it means you don't have to go chasing mobs. I'd actaully prefer to use Bowdar (you know, the whole smuggler/wookie thing plus he seems to have way more hp) but his toss ability is as frustrating to me as I imagine the harpoon is to a gunslinger.

This is the first affection mission You get with Corso Riggs

A Sky Full of Stars

As far as I can tell there are links between all of the conversations from the first to the last

Enjoy!

As an example of how to use Corso, I just turned level 20 and we can take on level 20 elites. I keep Corso healed and use my energy replenishers. Also, I put out some good credits for an excellent weapon that I keep updated with the best mod items money can buy. I make armor and make sure he has the best with mods. I see to his Aim and Endurance stats before I even see to mine since he keeps great aggro

I've heard that if you're raising his affection enough, one of his conversations can spoil the end of Act 1... no spoilers please, but can anyone confirm/give details?

The whole Harpoon Shot skill is most annoying! I finally figured out how to de-select the skill, but after every encounter it defaults back to Harpoon Shot! Am I doing something wrong here? I just don't want this one on at all, but it keeps coming back like a bad habit.

Penguinetta, nothing wrong with flirting, as long as it doesn't go further then that, the only people that have problems with flirting is when they are insecure about something, in the end, its a game and unlike real life, you just buy him a gift and all is well.

By Armstrong at 2012-01-13 18:02:59
I do that too! Lol, we're naughty! I stop right before "going too far" and usually give Corso some "warm fuzzies" ("nobody can replace you, Corso") to make him feel better. It's fun to watch him sputter and get jealous. :)

It finally got fixed in the last patch - now when you turn off your companion's abilities it will not longer revert back.
-2
By floofwolfe at 2012-01-11 00:39:10
Unfortunately, it's a bug that's so far unfixed, and causing many moments of "Damnit, Corso!"

For crew skills, Corso comes with +5 Underworld Trading Efficiency and +5 Armstech Critical.

Mediocre tank at best. Very squishy!

I have kept Corso well geared all the way to level 21 and he seems to get more squishy as we go.
When I first started working with Corso we could blast through a group of 3-4 standard mobs at or above our level in a few seconds and stay above 80% health.
Now when we get into a similar fight he either ends up dead or VERY low health. Conversely, I can fight the same group solo and end with over 50% health. It takes a lot longer but...

I now have Bowdaar and in our first 2 fights I found a noticeable improvement! I have not even upgraded his gear and he is tanking and killing better than Corso.

I'm playing a female character so maybe Corso will just have to be my BF. He is kinda cute. LOL
