Quick Facts

  • Level: 1
  • Classification: Standard
  • Class: Gault
  • Faction: Empire
  • Combat Type: Humanoid

The location of this NPC is unknown.

Formerly the notorious smuggler and confidence man Tyresius Lokai, Gault Rennow now enjoys a relatively paranoia-free lifestyle as an unknown gun-for-hire. Still, old habits are hard to shake, and Gault's cautiousness and duplicity are a constant reminder that the only thing to really change is his name. How long until the crafty Devaronian finds himself climbing up the galaxy's most wanted list again is anyone's guess.

You'll get him at the end your class quests on Tattooine.
By Draconax at 2011-12-27 21:00:35
Just to clarify, female bounty hunters will get nothing from courting gifts with Gault either, I've tried several and received 0 pts each time.
By Zeorn at 2011-11-23 12:38:02
His species is Devaronian
By Arthug at 2011-11-21 15:02:03

Ranged DPS companion, Uses Cunning as primary stat and primary weapon is Blaster Rifle.

Luxury is his favorite style of gift.

He is picked up once you finish your class quest on Tatooine

By Dengar at 2011-12-31 13:46:22
You can buy his customizations in the first town on Taris.
By Nibien at 2012-01-24 18:15:51

I can't wait for someone to be named Charles... so every idiot can say it's a reference to Charles Xavier. No, wait, Charles Darwin. Charles Dickens, maybe. How about Charles Schwab.

Believe it or not, names are names, they're not inherently references to anything or anyone with remotely similar pronunciations of a word. If the only thing you have to go on for a reference is a vaguely similar pronunciation and nothing else, as a reference, odds are it's not a reference and you're an idiot.

By tobarstep at 2012-02-03 06:26:47
I'd make sure to gear him up before passing judgment on his dps. If you've not played anything but a bounty hunter, then you don't have the experience with other companions. As most other classes can tell you, companions you get past your first one generally come with horrible gear. Get them into something appropriate for their level and you'll see marked improvements.
By spherewalker at 2012-02-29 04:35:22
as mercenary your really not that good off using him BUT however he is good DPS especially in "blaster stance" and he is a very funny guy also he offers alot of quest earning you alot of credits
By Nak88 at 2012-03-16 09:11:22
He's such a huge ranged damage dealer, it's a perfect fit if you're a mercenary healer or a powertech tank.
By xiani at 2012-03-22 17:19:34

The best thing about Gault is that he can use the same gear you have equipped Mako with (you did that, right?), so you only need to keep one set up to date. Gear doesn't bind between companions unless it's the quest reward stuff that starts with their character name, but you can buy/craft way better than that.

Apart from his sniper rifle, but that is moddable - don't be fooled by the fact it's green. Get him the best cunning barrel you can ASAP. You can still bring out Mako for tough elite fights, strip off all the other gear & swap it around.

For most easy combat this guy rips stuff up fast. The trick is to turn off all his AoE abilities, and also shield, he don't need no shielding, and it shares a cooldown with the DPS-boost (combat acumen). Make sure sniper mode is enabled, and all the single target abilities.

Then set him to attack (CTRL+1) the strong silver enemy in a pack if there is one, he does excellent single target damage, and you focus on nuking the rest. This also splits the incoming damage between you, meaning much less recharge time after fights.

As a tank this is a no-brainer for max levelling efficiency. As DPS it's probably a toss-up between him and Mako for overall speed. As a healer idea, but probably the best option when you get him as he's going to kill stuff faster than Mako.

If his greedy, cowardly ways in conversations offend your heroic play style there's always the option of swapping someone else in too!

I picked up this one horned, deceptive, scum last night and took him for a test drive.
After 2 quests I'm ready to leave him on my ship and let him run all my Underworld missions.

His single target dps is too slow and his aoe dps is way to low. (I tested both stances)

I can take down a crowd of targets or a single target much faster with Mako and I end with a lot higher health.

I got to thinking (oops), I must have missed something. So I went back and pulled up his talent bar. Sure enough all but 3 items were turned off! Which meant that NONE of his aoe's were on.
Now that they are all on, I can run him in Assault mode and take down mobs with a lot more speed.
Because of his slow snipe ability I have taken to giving him an attack command before I start my attack. If there is an elite of any level then that is his target.
OK, so we can take them down faster now but I still have to stand and recharge after the fight. So overall, the time per fight works roughly the same as with Mako.
Maybe if I gear him up...

Jeez he's ugly!

By spherewalker at 2012-02-19 04:13:28
a little hint for gault and mako customizations for em are bought on taris in the spaceport he have 3 different and she have 6
By AbsolutGrndZer0 at 2012-09-21 20:54:39

Um... actually Star Wars Galaxies had "Mabari" armor in it too. Long before Bioware made Dragon age.

Mabari Armor on the SWG Wiki (game itself may be dead, but the wiki is still up)

By AbsolutGrndZer0 at 2012-09-21 20:56:01
As for "Blizz" The developers have stated many times that Blizz's name has nothing to do with Blizzard. It is more of a joke in that he's from a desert planet, but you find him on an ice planet.
By Saint at 2011-12-06 22:09:41
Going by what bioware have said, they have not put any references to things not from the star wars universe
By justryanism at 2011-12-27 20:08:41
KOTOR had references to star trek, family guy, futurama you name it...
By nyraeth at 2012-01-28 19:30:05
I just picked up this guy today, and so far I am really disappointed in him. His DPS is terrible, both single target and AOE. Can anyone say if he gets better as you level?
By randomnumbers at 2011-11-29 03:53:47
Of course they would give a nod to the most well known fictional capitalist ...and make him a devil.
By Geowulf at 2011-12-30 09:57:49
I've found a bunch of mabari armor drops on tatooine. Still a reference to one of Bioware's games, but i don't think it's in the Star Wars universe anywhere.
By ibage at 2011-12-22 15:47:03
I don't buy it when BW said they weren't going to throw references in there from outside of Star Wars. Ayne Rand probably had some influence over Lucas and thus Star Wars. It's only fitting to throw in a reference to her work.
By ellesion at 2012-01-09 09:45:15
Just look at the companion Blizz if you want any references.
