Guss Tuno

The location of this NPC is unknown.

A failed Jedi Padawan who abandoned his training, the enthusiastically greedy Guss Tuno prefers the underworld lifestyle's potential for material riches. In a perfect galaxy, Guss would spend his retirement lounging in a heated swimming pool surrounded by exotic beauties while consuming a steady diet of fresh fish and expensive cocktails.

Although he often speaks before he thinks, Guss has talked his way out of certain death many times. He often uses his minimal knowledge of Jedi--and the lightsaber he stole from his old Master--to fool gullible criminals into leaving him alone. When that fails, Guss reveals he's a much better shot than anyone would believe.

You receive this companion on Hoth.

He is a Healer. He uses medium armor and blaster pistols.

Funnily enough he has an ability called Electro-Trap. Truly, it's a trap.

Easily one of the best NPC's for the Smuggler. Yells out hilarious things like "JEDI POWER" when using abilities (this makes more sense when you've experienced his story).

Voiced by Gary Schwartz, who also voices the Heavy of TF2.

My personal favourite as a sharpshooter gunslinger. Used to swear by Bowdaar and as much as I love the big guy, he always downed too quickly on a bad pull or if there was more than a few strong/elites, plus after every mob or every other mob, I had to stop and regen which meant a fair bit of downtime which you don't get with a healer by your side. Despite it feeling odd at first, I find myself ranged tanking even as a dps (and occasionally kiting some of the stronger melee baddies) while Guss easily keeps me alive. One tip for those new to healing companions in swtor? Keep all aggro off them, because I've found when Guss is being shot/sliced at, he tends to prioritise attacking back and healing himself over keeping me alive. Maybe it's all part of his master plan... :|a

Should be exceedingly useful for spotting troublesome traps.

oh i find it weird so many people are saying bowdaar is the best tank/overall companion, ive found corso to be waaaaay better.

As a Smuggler/Sawbones I never use Guss. As a healer I keep a tank out, either Corso or Bowdaar and keep them healed while I do DPS. On my tank specced toons I keep a healer out all the time, but I find with Guss out as a healer myself it either takes forever to kill mobs or we die because our DPS and healing can't keep up with tough mobs. I used Corso the entire time while leveling and had no trouble with champions within 2 levels of my level.

I had to also let the big guy Bowdarr go. He's great up until you get Guss. Bowdarr, with good gear, is still to squishy, and his dps is not much at all. I now kill off everything fairly fast and am still almost topped off with health at the end of a fight. Plus Guss heals himself and you, so no more recuperating for Bowdarrs sake. Just start walking and you'll be at full health by the next mob. I just switched up to Guss today and geared him out. Even in his starting gear with no implants, helm, or earpiece, at level 41 was fine through every single quest in Belsavis. I did actually really hate him because of the story, but he is pretty funny at times.

This may have changed. I'm seeing +10 Underworld Trading Efficiency, +2 Investigation Critical. Unless some companions have a random crew skill bonus. The smuggler is the only class I have played so far.

Minor SPOILER

Going on the "It's a trap!" joke, he brings your PC in some trap-situations, both intended and unintended, while you're playing through Hoth.
So I guess, Bioware did love the trap-joke, quite much ;)

Guss is a great healer, but I am curious if there is any unlockable state (like with IA companion from Taris) where he will ever actually use the lightsaber he supposedly carriers.
