I was solo'ing this flashpoint to grab some orange items and I figured out the deal with the fire. If you DPS him a little too fast, you can trigger multiple test fire phases and thus burn the entire room. The trick is to stop dps momentarily when he calls for the test firing, find the safe quadrant, all move there, then continue to dps until the next call. Rinse and repeat until dead. Any time I'd just dps him right through a phase too quickly, I'd end up getting two phases at once and thus, the entire room would be burning and death would ensue... ;)

Divide the fighting area into 4 quadrants. He will periodically flood 3 of them with fire, which will be proceeded by white steam cloud. So simply move to the quadrant without flame, the rest of the fight is tank and spank.

As of the patch notes from 1.0.2:
* General Ortol can no longer be pulled out of his room

Seems like we'll have to fight him despite all the bugs from now on.

This guy bugged on my group the first time we fought him (getting burned where there was no fire). We tried pulling him out of the room after that, but it seems they've fixed that. The next few times we tried, it was still bugged and we started taking fire damage before even engaging....

We did manage to fix this though, what we did was let the fire kill our group (in our case it killed two people, and left the third alive). Then revived them without leaving the instance. After that the fight went smoothly, and the animations were correct...

I think what happens is the fire mechanic for some reason or another doesn't reset correctly all the time, and letting it kill someone (or a few people) without the boss being engaged resets it completely (can someone verify?)

The fire is from the missiles that he calls to be launched. He will say something like "Contiune to launch the Missiles" And then he'll run to the quadrant where there will be no missile launch. We just stacked on him. As a healer, be ready to bubble the any of the party as the general does sometimes knock back a player into the flames. Also the flames have a HUGE AOE, so make sure to stack close.

He dropped a real nice Lightsaber that had Willpower and Endurance for my Healer...

This guy can seriously bug. Ran him on normal mode and the missile flame damage was occurring without any visual and even out of combat (when we stepped into the room, Boom fire). Once we initiated combat my group could only see the smoke for 1/3 of the missiles, however all 3 quadrants would receive the 'burn'. Best way around this bug was the earlier mentioned 'pull him out' trick. Watch out there IS a door that comes down once combat starts. You can range pull him however and JUST squeeze through that door, which the boss will path through. The fight then becomes a tank and spank with no strat.

I managed to confirm while running a low level friend through the instance, that his rocket firing is tied to his health. If you have a level 50 character helping you. Slow your DPS down or he WILL fire all four engines and you WILL die. Having a level 50 tank companion (Khem Val) wail on him with a level 32 DPSer companion (Mako) was enough to kill him tidily without four rockets baking use to a crisp.

Thanks Scootle! I kept dying to this guy even though he barely hit me and I couldn't figure out why. Your comment helped immensely. I slowed DPS and even had my companion stop. Took my time and made sure not to stand in the fire, the room never filled up with flames.

Just fought him tonight for the first time, Sentinel, Sage, Scoundrel and Guardian. We were dps heavy and seemed to have all four rockets firing at once which caused a couple wipes. We noticed that the rocket firing is tied to his health at 10%, so keep dps steady and you can whittle him down while controlling the rocket blasts. Easy fight otherwise.

Does anybody else keep hearing "Keep Firing Assholes!" every time he lights up the rockets at you?

To be honest, we had a vanguard who could aggro him from outside the arena
Fought him out of the fire and made the fight that much easier

We ran this earlier with no issues, but when we ran it a second time, we are having an issue where he sets all four quadrants of the room on fire and murders us. We've wiped like four times now. Never had this issue earlier (when we had one less person, so I don't think it's a DPS issue). Anyone else had this bug?

He has a nasty knockback that can knock you through the closed door if you're standing next to it.

"As of the patch notes from 1.0.2: * General Ortol can no longer be pulled out of his room"

Actually he *can* still be pulled out of the room. Companions can aggro him and pass back through the closed door just as he does... at least until that gets patched too.

This boss is still bugged. And my solution while not ideal did work. There were two of us lvl 30 and my lvl 50. We sent in tank pets, the door closed, the pets could be healed from the other side of the door. But we couldn't attack. The pets killed him. The door opened, we looted and finished the instance.

As of 1.2 still bugged, can't even step into room without fire starting.

Be careful of this. One of my party agro'd him with us in the hall. He died, we killed him we got the loot without fire. We didn't complete the instance however, as the door was shut after he died.

We had a level 50 running us through and had problems with the encounter bugging out and him triggering his missile ability too often (DPSed him too quickly perhaps), causing all 4 platforms to get engulfed in fire leaving no safe spots anywhere. We ended up having a companion run in and aggro the boss from the hallway and fought in the control room instead. Killed him and got loot and credit for completing the instance.
