How to: SD-O World Boss courtesy of <Business Casual> of Mask of Nihilus server (http://bizcas.guildportal.com):

SD-0 is an open world raid boss located in the Old Galactic Market area of Coruscant. This giant droid is basically a "tank and spank" boss with a few abilities to keep in mind. A full group of 24 people of appropriate level (15-20) is recommended. However, if you know the mechanics of the fight it can be killed with fewer. We did this with a operation with eleven: 2 tanks, 3 healers and 7 DPS. Our average level was around 17, with a handful of level 20s and one person in the group as low as level 11.

There are three main abilities that you need to be concerned with. The first is called Proximity Laser. When this ability is used SD-0 will place a red targeting crosshairs on two of the raid members. There will be a laser beam connecting the two people affected by Proximity Laser. After a few seconds the debuff will wear off and when it does everyone standing near the two afffected people will take damage: the closer these two people are together, the more damage that the raid will take. It is therefore critical that the two lasered individuals move away from each other and the other members of the raid as soon as they are targeted with the ability. The laser beam joining these two together will change color from red to yellow the further apart they are (indicating how much damage the AE will do) and then eventually disappear once they are far enough apart.

It is also critical to note that Proximity Laser can be used by SD-0 on the the initial pull. Since your two tanks are likely going to be the only people attacking the boss, if this happens the second tank should move away from the raid.

The next ability to keep in mind Is Ionized Stream. This is a blaster bolt that will hit the tank for a ton of damage. This ability must be interupted every time it is used. So make sure your DPS is playing attentions to the boss's "casting" bar.

Another important thing to consider takes place between your two tanks. SD-0 stacks a de-buff on the main tank that increases the damage he or she takes by 5% with each stack. So once the stacks get past 6 the second tank will need to taunt and get aggro. If your tanks are higher level, you may be able to wait until a higher level of stacks before taunting. (In our first kill we swapped at 8 stacks but both our tanks were in the low 20s.) After the tank switch, the tank affected by the debuff needs to be to be fully healed and the debuff must have completely worn-off of him before he taunts back. This tank switch should continue throughout the duration of the fight, so keep a close eye on the number of stacks each tank has.

Lastly the Boss has an Enrage timer of 8minutes. So make sure your bring enough DPS to ensure you burn him in time.

The boss seems to have some sort of anti-solo mechanics.

Regardless of player level (tried at 28, 45 and now 50), if you come alone then you will be two-shotted. Interestingly enough death by anti-solo mechanics doesn't degrade your equipment's durability.

I duoed this world boss today with my friend.

I'm a level 28 Vanguard Trooper (Tactics Speced)
My friend is a 25 Scoundrel Smuggler (Scrapper)

NOTE: You need a healer, or some sort of healer. A scrapper is mainly DPS but he was able to heal.

Since we duoed it took us a bit longer to kill. At 8 minute he enrages, doing massive amount of damage.

As a tank, I would tank SD-0 until I get stacks of the debuff (I don't recall what its called at the time. I will edit it when I give it ago again).
Then I would circle strife tank SD-0 until I lose my debuff.

Rinse and repeat. You don't 4+ stacks because it will start hitting you 500+ damage. If you get 4+ stacks pop some cool downs and try to kite it until you lose the debuff.

At the 8 minute mark, he starts enraging him. We had him to about 10%, which was a straight burn phase. I dumped all of my Ammo and chained cooldowns and med pack to survive the damage while circle strifing the boss.

Good luck!

Just ran this guy last night, we made a ops and it took about 8 of us all from lvl 10-18 and we had two lvl 25's tanking him once you get a cycle going and have a good healer all you need is time and he will fall

Solo'd him at 50 with a Sage healer. Would be much easier with a DPS hybrid.

If you engage with a companion summoned, he will still use his linking attack on both of you so you don't get insta-killed. You have to have the companion attack first. When the link appears, drag away from your companion until the beam turns green. Keep backing away if your companion teleports closer. If you are backing away, you won't get one shot by the explosion.

Shouldn't take long to kill him considering I have pitiful dps and beat him in under 5 minutes. It helped being able to heal myself, but that could just be because of slow DPS.

To "solo him" you need to group with at least one other player. We then made it into an ops group and dismissed both companions. At that point it can be 'soloed." I just got some random lvl 12 that was in the area and gave him the BoPs. Every time I went in alone or even in the group with a companion he just instagibbed me

Do not attempt to kill this boss with a few of your friends. I came back with my buddy a couple of planets later and we didn't even make a dent.
We had a good time...but this guy is serious business.

When I saw this guy wandering aground just a few meters away from me I was like: "OMFG! 8I". I mean, for a lvl 18, 190k HP is a whole damn lot.
Good to see Bioware taking time for raid testing on the lil people. =)

Other than that, you can find him in the 1st section of the Black Sun area.

Killed him last testing weekend at Saturday on Rogue Moon server. It's a shame I was so excited that didn't even make a screen-shot. We gathered full Ops PuG (24 man).
I won't take the bread from <Condemned> guild above - watch their video and take pleasure. Since we were PuG, his ion spike (or how is that ability called?) was rarely interrupted so some DpS-ers died prematurely. Tanks were doing the swapping at 5-6 stacks of debuff (I suppose they looked on other tank's HP rather than debuff stacks count). We had 5 healers, 4 of 12-14 level gunslingers and commandos and one 18-th level sage. 12-th level guardian tanks. Big guy dropped four epics.
He also seemed to have a frontal AoE though I can't say for sure since I was looking at HP bars more than him.

PS. You definitely need a large group to drop him.

Killed him twice now. Easy fight, decent loot mainly around level 15 purples. Raid consisted of 4 healers 2 tanks and 6 dps. Dps+heals should be atleast level 16. Tanks 17+

Wasn't too bad of a fight. Went in with 24 players of a variety of levels, highest being 19, lowest 10. average level was probably around 16. We had 2 tanks, 5 healers and a mix of melee and ranged dps. This was done with a PUG, so I am sure an organized group without the low levels would be able to take this out with no problem. Just have to remember to rotate taunts and interrupt and you should be good to go! Good Luck!

dropped him with myself (level 35 guardian) and another tank (Level 38 guardian) 1 dedicated healer (32 sage) a few dedicated dps'ers (Various stragglers in addition to our guildies which were around their 30's and were a mix of sentinels and gunslingers our team was about 16 in size but the first time i beat it it was with a group of 10 (2 tanks 1 healer 7 dpsers all gunslingers and commando's) if you are in the 18-24 range then yes you will need a full group but our average party level was around 32 maybe 33 the first time we killed it.
