HK-51

I just wanted to clarify: There is no quest for an HK companion currently in the game. I have seen people claiming sightings but these are incorrect. The information you're seeing is from data mining sites that deep dive into files that - as many of you correctly pointed out - are often shells for future work or parts of the game that were removed. Always read any of these with a healthy degree of skepticism.

Patch 1.5 Information:

See this version of HK-51 for companion quests and affection gain.

Don't speak too soon about HK-47 having nothing to do with the 51, ladies and gents. Here's some fun with KotOR II cut content: HK-50's hunt the PC throughout the game. Originally, you were supposed to let the re-assembled HK-47 interrogate one of the 50's, leading him to the HK factory on Telos while Darth Nihilus is busy bombing the planet. Within HK finds that there's an entire army of these HK-51 units already mass produced but offline due to some behavior core problem or other. He provides a fix from his own programming, then uses the 51's to wipe out the remaining 50's and then finally, stopping G0-T0 from killing Bao-Dur's remote on Malachor V during endgame.

So, I'd imagine it would follow that we might have to scan him in one of his current incarnations or something. Only way to know for sure is to wait until he's patched in during 1.3.

As far as i know... there is a quest at lvl38 on Hoth to get him, people say its history quest (i didnt find it). Other people says npc isnt spawned yet (i and some clanmates mapped all Hoth and didnt saw the droid T3-like that gives the quest) so it seems this theory is correct.

There are some theories that tells it must be repaired with pieces of HK-45, havent done Foundry yet, so i guess this theory cant be discarded yet... I hope if someone read this and got it reply because im getting tired of search and havent found anything yet.
