The location of this NPC is unknown.

A highly talented field medic, Elara Dorne was born Imperial and served in the Empire's military for two years before defecting to the Republic. She has since served with distinction as a search-and-rescue squad leader, earning several commendations for aiding wounded men under direct enemy fire. Her operational record is flawless.

What no record can show is that Dorne's background, combined with her strict adherence to regulations and rigid, uncompromising personality, has made her fairly unpopular with her fellow soldiers. In truth, she's widely regarded as a cold, asocial killjoy, an unfortunate side effect of her dedication to embodying the laws and ideals of the Republic.

Note to everyone using Elara:

She heals/DPS a lot better if you turn off Carbonized Stream (every freaking time...).
I was noticing she was spamming Carbonized Stream all the time, prefering it over DPS or healing, and in a few situations, mainly boss fights, she would just let me die so she could spam a zero attack damage at the boss that he is immune to ^^ Thats what i call good AI.
Anyway, after deactivating Carbonized Stream she started healing and DPSing like crazy, more than doubled her performance...

DEACTIVATE Carbonized Stream! You wont regret it :)

She is a ranged DPS/Healer. She uses heavy armor and a blaster pistol.

Here's a weird bug: I was 19th level by the time I'd left Coruscant, and decided to skip Taris (not realising I was skipping a companion) and head straight to Nar Shaddaa.

When I arrived at Nar Shaddaa, I was kicked straight into a briefing cutscene with General Garza on the ship's holocom, and me and Jorgan lined up in front of it - along with a woman I'd never seen before (who turns out to be Elara), attending the briefing clad only in her underwear.

It seems the game assumes her presence when you reach Nar Shaddaa, but not the presence of her gear and clothing.

Ok, more investigated and more playing complete. Starting Act 2 you can begin courting her! She will accept courting gifts at the time and more flirt options open up during dialogue on your ship.

Elara is a romance option for Male Troopers.

Her romance path is...interesting. She starts babbling about kids pretty early on. Okay dear that's nice...but we are sort of in the middle of a WAR here.

Upon Completion of Act 1 and are on your ship, you will have the liberty to do about 10 dialogue quests with Elara. These are the dialogues where the flirting actually works a lot. Also, courting gifts are able to be used.

As of 29th Dec 2011, she seems to get a main weapon with stat bonuses to cunning and endurance despite her main stat being aim. I didn't notice this till I got a mission reward in Anchorhead on Tatt with a gun for her that also has +cunning.

She is also capable of Ranged DPS if you switch her from Med Watch to Blaster Stance. Though not as good as Jorgen, she can off-heal while DPSing, which comes in handy while solo leveling.

Very useful companion past level 30-ish, things start hitting much harder once you get to Balmorra/Quesh and Elara is capable of a lot of healing if you give her as much Aim as possible.

Probably the most useful alongside Aric Jorgan. Vik, and M1-4X I swear are just there for the sake of it, tanks are utterly useless for levelling. I've yet to unlock Yuun yet but I hear he's good melee DPS. Still, I love the healing Elara gives.

Elana rejected Courting companion gifts until I had completed all my Trooper missions just prior actually going to Balmorra. I had gotten her affection to 5,400 before I could give her her first Courting gift. Before that all Courting companion gifts gave +0 affection, so don't bother til the beginning of Chapter 2 and Balmorra.

I am pleased to report that giving Aric Jorgan the XO position does NOT interfere with the Elara Dorne romance, at least, as far as Chapter 2 is concerned. So if you are making a male Trooper, do not be intimidated to give Elara the position.

I've found that luxury works best with her in Act I. I have 3k affection with her and the "other stuff"she likes gives around 12 affection, but luxury gives 27.

you can get affection from courting gifts (+96) after the dialogue mission Up to code, if you have flirted with her.
this mission will become available after act 1, unsure of affection requirement for it. i was at 5022.

@Ajina - I've also noticed that she not only still comes with a Cunning weapon (as of patch 1.1.0b, 24 Jan 2012), but even a reward of a custom Elara-only blaster from Mayor Klerren on Tatooine was Cunning! Not sure why the weapons were not revised, but it sure is easy having all your companions have the same stats as you!

At level 29, carbonizing Stream becomes very important. At level 29 it becomes her CC ability. She doesn't spam it when it works. She can save you with it.

All of the courting gifts don't work until and unless you are actively courting the companion. As in, in a relationship and working toward their equivalent of marriage.

I like Elara Dorne, but for those of you who are curious as to whether being offered XO will affect whether she can be romanced, I am testing it by instead giving the position to Jorgan. I will update when I find out more on how the XO position affects romance.

@Boffin - as of 23 Jan 2012, Elara still comes with a CUNNING blaster: Elara's Heavy Blaster - which is a modifiable weapon, so just replace the barrel/mod/enhancement as you get mods.

I can't believe the Trooper gets the first two companions that have the same stats (three, if you count the ship's droid) as the player! Wow, how convenient is that! Especially if one crafts, let alone the hand-me-downs!

In game (or at least during the Thanksgiving weekend stress test) the tooltips for companion gifts gave them a category; the banners and history holos were rank 2 and rank 1 Imperial and Republic Memorabilia

She also likes Courting once you start flirting with her. First attempt was a failure, she turned me down, so i waited a few more levels and now all she wants is to flirt and to get courting gifts.

At level 29, you need to be sure and activate Elara's Carbonite Stream ability. At 29 it begins to work as her form of CC. If you turned it off because of the problems at lower levels, turn it back on at level 29.
