Even in an organization as diverse as the Republic Army, Yuun stands out. A member of the Gand species and hailing from the Gand homeworld, Yuun is a Findsman, a type of shamanistic tracker held in very high regard among his people. He applies his unusual training to technical tasks of every kind, resulting in a success record unmatched by any other technician in the military.
As effective as Yuun's methods are, they rarely meet with understanding or approval from his fellow soldiers. But despite his eccentricities, Yuun's fighting skill and calm approach to any challenge generally earn at least the grudging respect of the men and women he serves with.

Yuun uses heavy armor with aim. He also uses a Techstaff, not an electrostaff. Two very different things.
Sadly there aren't any moddable techstaves in the game, so the best you can do is either a crafted purple, or a blue mission reward from belsavis. Same goes with Vik's vibroswords, and Qyzen's techblades.
You receive this companion on Hoth.
He is melee DPS. He uses medium armor and an electrostaff.
Yuun becomes exceptionally dangerous when left to fight, free of any enemy aggro. He's especially quick at tearing through standard / weak level mobs, he hits immensely hard. I've yet to get him any decent upgrades through missions or Armstech crafting due to skilling it up, but I cant wait to see the damage he can do with high end gear.
Yuun has replaced Jorgan as my "trash farming" companion, due to his superior AoE.
However, when you're fighting multiple Strong mobs or Elite mobs, you're better off switching to Elara as always.
I agree with Dorf. Yuun has quickly become my second-favorite companion after Elara, and I use him a lot for general questing. He's the Trooper equivalent to the Knight's Kira Carsen; he even has most of the same or similar abilities. I've even done a few elites with Yuun when I had some medpacks to spare and all my cooldowns available. I didn't exactly finish at 99% health, but it made for a very exciting fight.
Sadly, Yuun needs a Techstaff (Techblades all seem to have defensive stats on them, while a Techstaff is offensively-oriented), which is even more uncommon on my server's GTN than good Techblades. So far I've had to get by with green, vendor-purchased versions as there has yet to be a blue or purple Techstaff on the GTN that was higher than level 39.
Sadness, only one customization for this guy. For those of you who like visuals ♥
