Veek wants you to test out his new modified ion gun on some nearby droids.

Disable unstable defense droids with Veek's modified ion gun to the north-west of Dreviad Outpost.

I have completed the quest very rapidly and it should not cause much struggle:

- Place Veek's Modified Ion Gun onto your bar
- Engage a group of 3 Unstable Defense Droids
- Left-click on Veek's Modified Ion Gun

After doing this the result will either be a conversion of the droid you used it on to an ally or it will shock yourself. Repeat these steps until you have completed the quest.

These droids seem to spawn only in a small area up in a little crevice where there are also many sand people; my minimap says X 240 Y -1978. The droids spawn in packs of 3, and it seems like the gun will only work on one droid per pack. (Then again, I just killed a 2-pack and the gun worked on neither...) Drag the gun from your Mission Items tab to a hotbar key to use it. Smugglers, don't forget you can CC them.

Has to be one of the most useles quests on this planet that I've found.
It has never worked for me in the 4 times I've tried it.
The mission item never dispalys as 'ready' in the hotbar or pack, and every time I attempt to use it, I'm the one that gets electrocuted :)
Can someone provide the steps needed to use the item and disable the droids? I'm sure others would benefit, too.

I was having the same problem - getting into combat first and then using the item got it to work. Pulling the group by starting with the item failed for me every time. The item might look like it's not ready but should still work, and should still show its cooldown duration after being used.
