After you returned to Braden with the Datapad, Mako gets the information needed to find Vexx. He is leaving the planet, so you have to stop him before that happens. You find him right before he gets on his ship. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think you get a choice to let him live and just take his ID. I'll edit this later if someone posts something about that being incorrect.

Contrary to the above comment, I do not believe there is a choice to letting Vexx live. All conversation options, including asking Vexx to calm down, result in combat. As such, there does not seem to be any capability to walk away with a peaceful solution and the usual lightside points associated with such a choice on this particular quest.

Reward from this mission is the Homestead Defense Pistol:

There is an option to shoot Vexx before he can draw his guns. This doesn't get you any darkside points, and results in Vexx starting the fight wounded.
