That's because companions you get later on gain more affection. Think of it like this: when it says +15, that's +small affection (15 for starting comp, 27 for next, I forget the third amount, 55 for fourth, 102 for 5th). When it says +40, that's +large affection. The reason it says +15 on here regardless of when you get the companion is because this stuff isn't taken from people observing it, it's pulled from the game code and that's more or less how the game tracks it.
