The 'Merchant Turret' looks nothing like a turret - see the provided screenshot. It's low to the ground and easily mistaken for cargo.

I tried it without the companion and it worked like a charm.Tried it ~7 times before I looked it up here. Maybe it bugs if the companion gets the killing blow.

After doing it roughly 6 times without the turret hitting anything, I finally dismissed my companion and it worked (the turret hit some of the early guys). I think, as someone mentioned above, it's not that you have a companion or the turrest is hitting anything ... you just need to get the killing blow on the last guy yourself.

After reading the comments and several failed attempts at soloing the Bleeder Lookout, as I'm a healer, I completed the mission by doing the following:
1. Fight in the street, away from the turret so it doesn't "tag" the Bleeder minions and prevent them from spawning.
2. Fight the Bleeder Lookout with my tank companion out and just set him to passive after he got significant aggro (ctrl-2 by default, or by left clicking the icon). I got the killing blow on the Lookout and got credit for the mission. Hope this helps.

The mission can bug on the turret part by not giving credit on completion. It worked for me when I dismissed my companion.

Definitely the problem is when the turret is hitting people before you or your companion does. I found that moving away from the turret and trying to gather aggro on the mob packs ~15 yrds away from the cannon worked the best.

I found I didn't have to dismiss the companion, just set them to neutral when the final mob spawns.

"the method that worked for me...i didnt have to dismiss my companion, i just activated the turret then went around the corner so the turret couldnt shoot the mobs. worked first time. GOOD LUCK"

When you make a statement like this, you're not taking into account that maybe on your successful run your companion didn't get the killing blow on the last guy. The factor isn't dismissing your companion and it isn't moving away so the turret can't hit it. It's getting the killing hit on the last guy. I did it again on another character and actually watched very closely. Three times in a row the turret or my companion got the killing blow and I didn't get credit. The fourth time, the turret hit some things but I got the killing blow and it worked.

For those of you who have problems doing this one without a companion, some of them doesn't bug it out, like for example C2-N2 can heal you through it.

The difficulty I had was getting first hit on the splicer that comes at the end. Yes, go around the corner or even out away from the turret and the lookouts come right to you with no problems at all. The splicer, however, comes from the other side (back out of an alcove to the right if facing the turret) and runs to you right in front of the turret on its way to you, getting tagged by the turret pretty quickly. If you are paying attention and tag it first, the quest completes. I completed it with my companion out. I know my companion tagged several of the lookouts first and it didn't effect the quest. I don't know what would have happened if the companion tagged the slicer first since I didn't let that happen.

I tried the 'Activate Turret' part over a dozen times, I even have 2 Tickets on that.

After reading here the method of Activating the turret & immediately going round the corner I gave that a try & completed it first time. All my Republic Alt's (I have one of each class Republic & Imperial) also managed to complete this part of the mission using the 'activate & go round the corner' method.

The Turret I completed 4 time is -
X: 3155 || Y: -3356 || Redlight District, Back Alley Slums. It is near one of the 'Spice Labs' from a different mission & there is a Bleeder Enforcer (Strong) near the turret & a patrolling (Strong) Bleeder Cargo Droid that patrols nearby.

Take out the Bleeder Enforcer first, he is near the Turret & although it may not be necessary I took him out just in case. The Droid MUST be taken out Before you activate the Turret as it patrols where you will be fighting the 3 Waves of Bleeders. The first 2 waves are not terribly difficult, I think weak or normal mobs. The final wave is a 'Strong' Melee & when he drops the Mission will update.

THANK YOU to whomever first suggested moving round the corner, this one was really starting to frustrate me :-)

This is what worked for me:
-Find a turret you want to use(I found 2 diff ones in the area)
-Clear any roamer(s) if necessary
-Activate the turret
-Kill the first two waves of minions(they have low health and almost all die or close to it with one AoE)
-Put pet on passive(don't have to dismiss)
-Tag the last solo mob that comes before the turret hits it first(it's a strong but easy enough to kill)
-I made sure I saved a big damage attack to get killing blow but I'm not sure you need to if you tag it first
Hope this helps!

Took me 7 tries before it gave me credit on the turret part. Definitely bugged, but not impossible.

Yep, dismissed my companion & then did the turret part & got credit for it right away.

Use the turret at 3156,-3356. Fight in the street to where the turret can't hit the NPCs (the mobs spawn around the corner).

Seems to be the best route to take.

I've done it without the turret hitting anything and still didn't get credit for the quest. Moving away might give you a better chance, but it is certainly not the only factor.

Coincidence maybe, but tried 3x to no avail on the 4th dismissed the companion and it worked fine.

This took me about 8 tries. In the end, I found it helpful to keep an eye on my minimap for the red dots to appear. This might help you find the mobs so you can tag them before the turret does.
