quote: " I still can't seem to understand how betraying your questgiver for some credits and her personal gain gives you lightside points!"
Its not a matter of betraying one person to another, so much as discrediting the man's work. He's working towards major breakthroughs in knowledge of the Dark Side of the Force. Should his work be discredited, its essentially a gain for the Light Side. Hence, the LS gain.

edit: What Walex said.
I think the rewards have been updated for this. I got
120 credits
2080 exp
150 DS points
Warrior Boots
(I turned Malora in)
As of the latest patch, if you choose the light side option to help Malora she will no longer send you a mail yelling at you. I recieved the following note with 28 credits but no fortitude stim:
"What you did for me, moving against Lord Renning, was risky and took vision. The overseers are beginning to talk. Soon the Dark Council will see my master for the lunatic that he is. Now I hear you're close to completing your trials. I've sent a small gift. A sign of respect and thanks. Never let it be said I was slow to see the next Sith Lord in the making.
Be well, Sith, and remember me later.
Malora"
