Pirate Medicine

Doctor Ianna Cel believes the Sith developed a serum prior to the bombardment that could neutralize the rakghoul contagion. If it still exists, it would be in the scavenger-held Fallenspire Stronghold.

She has requested your help in recovering the serum from the scavengers' nearby base. Head to the Fallenspire Stronghold in the Sinking City and find the rakghoul serum.

  • Until a vaccine can be widely distributed, it is highly doubtful that any civilian colonization effort will yield lasting results. Thank you.

    Can anything be done?
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Grim news.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Who are you?

While we wait... is there a cost to these samples I should be aware of? A deal with a pirate crew, perhaps?

    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    They weren't so cooperative.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Nothing worth mentioning.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    This one's on the ghouls.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    I stole it.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
Not in front of your people.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    [Lie] Nothing to worry about.

I've been trying to acquire this serum, but short of putting a blaster to someone's head, that's not going to happen.

    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Something I should know?
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
If it's for a good cause....

I asked Commander Viqui to step in, but since it wasn't a Republic hospital, the pirates have legal salvage rights.

    Jedi Consular
    I can negotiate with pirates.
    Smuggler
    Don't worry about the law.
    Jedi Knight
    That cure belongs to everyone.
    Trooper
    I'll see about that.

    I tune out at archaeology.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
Could you buy it off them?

You, on the other hand... what would you think about getting some samples out of them?

    Jedi Knight
    Pirates are easy.
    Jedi Consular
    A worthy cause.

    Can do.

  • You picked the wrong medbay to rob, vac-brain! There's gonna be two hundred Death's Claw pirates coming through that door!

    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    And?

    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Unlikely and unnecessary.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
I killed an awful lot of them.

I'm going to have to shoot them all in the head before they try to eat my liver.

    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    So make more serum.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Then that's what will happen.

You want serum, you get it there and leave us alone.

    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    I'll look there... once.

    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Serum. Now.

If I'm not around to administer their serum treatment, it's going to be nothing but carapaces and claws in here.

    Jedi KnightJedi Consular
    You can't keep the serum.
    +15 with Qyzen Fess
    Trooper
    Hand it over.
    Smuggler
    Yap, yap, yap.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    So it works, does it?

And don't think they're incapacitated. They just look that way. I've got a serum you wouldn't believe.

    Jedi Knight
    Good. Hand it over.

    Jedi Consular
    Calm down.
    Trooper
    Great. I'll take it.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Glad you mentioned it, sucker.

What is this? I'm getting robbed by Jedi? I thought you guys were allergic to credits or something!

    Jedi KnightJedi Consular
    Quit whining.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler
    Get back on topic.
    TrooperSmuggler
    Not entirely true.
    Jedi KnightJedi ConsularTrooperSmuggler

"Follow the Arrow" will lead you all over the place you have already been. The location of the serum is underground. Then entrance is at ground level on the north side of the hospital (outside).

I just picked the Dark side option, for this ONE time in my life, because i was too lazy to go all the way to the hospital >.<.

If you choose the light-side options at the end of the first wing of this mission, you'll get sent to Dynamet General Hospital: Research Level. The serum can be found on the wall in the eastern room there.

The hospital referred to in this quest is not the structure that you initially encountered as part of the Dynamet General Hospital. The actual location for this quest is underground. Follow the arrow on the map to enter.

ya, you have to follow the path around to the back (north) side of the hospital, down a ram into the basement.

It still took me a while to find. The coordinates of the entrance is 223,400. It is just south of the arrow. If you look on your map by the arrow, you will see a little dark area with a faint road that leads to it.

Bludwyng's description is spot on. After bashing keyboard to face for a while, read that and knocked it out quickly.

As a Jedi Consular I was a little shocked at how hostile all of the conversation options were. Even the "Light Side" choice at the end was nasty: "If this is a waste of my time, I'll make you suffer for it." And this comes right after the pirate doctor begs you not to take his medicine and instead to look in the hospital for more...

. * Pirate Medicine
. * First dialogue - no gain.

. * This serum will only provide effective immunity for extraordinarily healthy individuals.
. . * So it's nearly worthless.

. . * Too bad.
. . * Can't we improve it somehow?

. * If I infected an extraordinary individual protected by the serum, I could collect the antibodies and make an effective vaccine.
. . * You could infect me.
. . * Would that even work?

. . * Uh-oh.

- * This dialogue, no gain.

- * After I give you the serum, go out there and test it. Let the rakghouls attack you and... see what happens.
- - * That's not encouraging!
. . * We're getting bitten?
. . * Get it over with.

Message from Doctor Ryamn after letting him keep the serum:
Remember that time you shot your way into a Death's Claw pirate camp and met the local medic? Remember how he convinced you not to subject his patients to a horrible rakghoul-y death by stealing his vaccine supply?

That was me. How's things with you?

I wasn't always with the Death's Claw, you know. I won't give you a whole sob story, but I'm here now because these guys took me in. They're my brothers. Brothers who are jerks, true... but jerks deserve a chance, too.

Anyway, I owe you one. There's talk of pulling out of Taris, and I hope it happens. You ever find yourself in the wrong place and need to get patched up, let me know.
