Looks like this contains a random item.

In my case, I opened it and received [blue] Prototype Ithorian Mariner's Wristwraps, boe. 78 Armor, +8 Endurance, +19 Willpower requires level 15 and light armor worth 205 credits.

seems correct to me. i got a "prototype cerean light enforcer" which is a blaster rifle, an item i cannot even use as my character is a Bounty Hunter, so blaster pistols only.

It is also possible to receive a random crafting schematic. I got one for Synthweaving; [Schematic: Battlelord's Boots] from mine. Again, not an item I can use, but BoE.
