This is incorrect, just opened my case and received 4987 credits. Obviously a decent sum of gold, but is not in fact an purple quality loot.

This case will drop a random purple BoE item, every single time. Arguably the best case to buy as it'll yield something you can sell for hefty amounts of credits because few want to spend 24 emblems on a random chance.

You CAN get credits sometimes when opening any of the 24 commendation boxes on any planet. Sad but true.
