I believe these are now only attained from Treasure Hunting. My characters with Investigation, Diplomacy, and Underworld Trading (don't ask why I have so many chars already...) have never seen them once, while Treasure Hunting missions (for Companion Gifts) grant them frequently - sometimes alone, sometimes alongside a "real" companion gift.

These can be traded for Companion gifts at the Republic Fleet Galactic Trade Market from Luna the Curator.

You can turn these in on the empire side at the "curator" aka the vendor who trades these... her name is Kaiza and she is standing with the companion gift vendor in the Galactic Trade Market section of the Imperial Fleet station.

The item is dropped through one of the four mission skills, by doing the companion gift missions.
So far I've done about 20 companion missions, and recieved 3 of them. 2 from investigation and 1 from Treasure Hunting... (Split among 2 characters :) )

Might be worth noticing that the award you get from collecting 6 of these is a great amount of affection towards the individual companion.
