The Minimech CE is the "Mouse Droid" you get for purchasing the Collector's Edition. Another pet named exactly "Mouse Droid" http://www.torhead.com/item/fvAGFV4 does exist in the game for 25,000 credits; however, you have to purchase that one and only those who purchased an authenticator have access to it.

I've run around with this companion, clicked / right-clicked and found that there is no special function to it - it performs exactly as stated in its description (passive observation). In other words, it is just a collectible pet like you find in other MMOs - non-combatant and purely aesthetic.
