I can confirm this location, but there is not a lot to be found. The Gathering item seems to be something that looks like a wooden crate filled with metal odds and ends. I have found these on Balmorra and Quesh as well. Since it is grade 4, I suspect that Alderaan may be too low in level to have much. Will keep looking.

I decided to test out the suggestion of Quesh and I can confirm it is an excellent place to get (PURELY from nodes -- no droid killing needed!):

Diatium x 101
Resinite x 114
Bondite x 42
Fibermesh x 38

It was particularly good for Diatium and Resinite though. I'll update with rough numbers once I get through doing a round of Quesh.

Edit: I've finished approximately 1 round of Quesh and as a republic player I also explored Imperial questing areas. Using a level 50 mount in the span of about 30-45 minutes, I acquired the above numbers of each item with minimal backtracking. These numbers are approximate as I was also doing scavenging missions, but are close to the actual results. As you can see, Quesh is loaded with level 4 scavenging items. Some of the nodes seemed to share spawns between Bondite/Fibermesh and Diatium/Resinite so maybe my numbers could be the result of a 50/50 chance for spawns, but still... very good. I'm also adding that since Quesh is such a small planet it is ideal for farming this level of scavenging mats without needing to spend money on missions.

Hoth>Heroic Area "Manifest Destiny" droids all yield Resinite/Electrum/Diatium/Polyplast randomly...farming made easy for higher lvls to solo and respective lvl groups. Happy scavengin!

Found on Alderaan in Kaamos Territory. On the East side of map, just across the South Fornakk River. It was in a box that required 205 slicing. Another spot is also Kaamos Territory in the Alsiri Lowlands just across the bridge in the northwest section.
