Once you buy it, you need to *use* it as well to finish the quest.

After that, you can keep using it for a little animation, but otherwise you can just vendor it back for 5 creds or trash it.

I'm still not sure what buying and clicking an item has to do with being social, though.

You need to buy this to complete the social tutorial quest. After that it does not have any use at this stage in the beta.

I haven't found any use for this item. It seems you can just trash it. Quite strange.

This is a cosmetic/vanity animation item, the main purpose of which appears to be to introduce people to the social vendor and the concept of social points. When I use it on a female Human Sith Juggernaut, she bends forward then raises her arms over her head and a glowing Imperial symbol appears over her head for a few seconds.

I see my self using this in open world pvp, after killing a enemy player i'd use this to dance on his grave showing off the Empire Symbol.

For any noobs like I am to SWTOR, be sure to buy this item - use it for the quest tutorial - then vendor it back within the 2hr window to get ALL your credits back.

I have a social rating of 2/10, I can't buy this Imperial Social badge from the vendor.. get an error saying I don't have the required social skill. I'm level 12, this is a level 9 mission. How'd you all get it?

Figured it out.. my rank went up to 1 after grouping with a fellow named Bigkok and completing The Dark Talon instance. I was mistaking points for rank.
