If mods/armor are the only upgades i will be sad, orange gear should not
be the top gear in the game just by modding them.
I get not wanting 400 players to look the the same, but
what is the point of raiding if I can get max Uber gear
just from my cybertec profession?
Is not raiding about getting gear/stats u otherwise could not get?
Yes it is, and it still is. The orange gear is just there make the looks of your gear different. Cybertech epic mods will never be as good as any of the high tier raided gear, as said before. You can keep the lets say Rakata Top for example, or rip out the mods & stick it in a different orange piece of gear. The stats & bonuses will stay the same, but your look will be different.
I like this, cause I'm not forced to look like every other player on the fleet, just because I have some high level gear. The sad part is the high cost of ripping out the mods, but that's worth it in my honest opinion.
Well thanks for helping me understand that.
I had in my mind that mods were like "jem slots" in wow.
i know this is not wow, im loving swtor just hard
to change the mindset.
I still hope future content will have additional gear enhancement like
a swtor version of enchanting.
There is. 1.3 interview, located at http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/05/21/star-wars-the-old-republics-13-patch-revealed says:
They didn't go into any extra info on it, but I'm GUESSING it will be Artificer = Lightsaber/Offhand Augment kit, Armstech = Blaster Augment kit, so on and so forth. Kind of curious if Earpieces (cybertech) and Implants (biochem) will be able to get augments too.
Yes I hope they stay going in that direction, of more gear enhancements.
I hope they move away from dropping mods/armors from quest.
This to me takes away from the professions and hurts the marketplace for them.
I am leveling my 1st toon along with Cybertech, and so far I have been
able to get better mods from quest rewards than my profession, and I have
lvled Cybertech right along with my toon.
In order to have a robust GTN for mods or all the other professions I really hope
they move away from these type of rewards for quest.
A great peice of gear to last you a few levels sure, but enhancements to gear no,
leave that to the profession crafters.
@Whitewoof: I'm sure they will have Augments, as they can be critcrafted. This opens up some possibilities for the higher tiers gear! Although... the reason they do is to make social gear adaptive... So they might aswell not give them augment slots. Only time will tell.
I'm just a little scared that crafting Augments will be the next big thing, as EVERY piece of gear will be able to have an augment. And there's already so few decent that are being crafting...
