New Feature: Model Viewer!

Today we launched a new feature here on Torhead, our SWTOR Model Viewer is now available and can be viewed on any weapon page!

Here's a couple to check out: Modified DTB-27 Bolt Pistol, Centurion Enforcer's Sniper Rifle, The Debilitator, The Heart of Ragnos and Prototype N-30 Battle Techblade

I'm curious about how you got the 3D models. Did you get it by reverse-engineering the data files of the game?

This is so cool! So far it has worked for every weapon i have tried it on too :D So nice since the game doesn't have a ctrl+left click feature for weapons atm.

I love you guys for this! Thanks so much. Not so useful for lightsabers, but sooo useful for guns :)

Will armour eventually be added to this feature?

Hopefully, soon you'll have the 3D character viewer a la wowhead.

I hope you guys add this feature to armor soon! Would love to preview items that I don't have before buying/farming them.

Brilliant folks, ty muchly - looking forward to the armor too, but the weapon looks were definitely the most lacking info considering not even the game models them! oO

Well most of the time the Weapon model matches the Icon. But I love the Model feature here you can get a closer look.

Extremely useful for blaster weapons. Can't wait to see armor too. Though at least everything matches it's icon, it's hard to see details or to imagine what it would look like on a female/male body. Great job.

Awesome, Torhead team. Looking fantastic and highly useful, especially since you can't preview weapons in game. I'm glad you guys are committing to the game, when the drop tables are included so we can browse items and find their sources, you shall fulfill your destiny, and we will rule the galaxy as user and website!

A few of these models are incorrect compared to ingame... the models here just match the icon, but ingame items frequently are entirely different to the icon.

Click the "View in 3D" link off to the right side of the item name (over next to the Quick Facts section).

Is there a way to toggle between the republic models and empire ones? Common items have a different look on each side, and currently it only shows empire models.

I have not noticed an item that did not match its icon in-game, and I've also not seen the same item that had different appearances on either faction. Specific examples would be nice for those reporting such.

Here is a good test case, you can see the screenshot is what it looks like in-game, but that is not what the 3d preview looks like on the site.
