Race picking/unlocking and the Legacy system

As we all know by now, the Legacy will allow you to unlock races for all the classes once you've reached level 50 with said race.
From what I could find out from the character creation screens, there's 3 races Empire-only, and 2 races that are Republic-only.

Seeing as to how the Legacy is currently limited to one server, you might want to think about which races you pick, and which you will want to unlock if you want to have a special race from the other side of the fence, having all 4 classes per faction.

Empire
Sith Warriors: Human, Sith Pureblood, Cyborg, Zabrak
Sith Inquisitors: Human, Sith Pureblood, Twilek, Rattataki, Zabrak
Bounty Hunter: Human, Cyborg, Zabrak, Rattataki, Chiss
Imperial Operative: Human, Chiss, Cyborg, Zabrak, Rattataki

Summary:
Empire Exclusive: Chiss, Sith Pureblood, Rattataki
Empire Limited: Twilek
Suggested race picks: Sith Pureblood, Rattataki and Chiss are Empire only. Consider that if you wish to unlock them for the Republic.

Republic:
Jedi Knights: Human, Miraluka, Twilek, Zabrak, Mirialan
Jedi Consulars: Human, Miraluka, Twilek, Zabrak, Mirialan
Smugglers: Human, Cyborg, Twilek, Zabrak, Mirialan
Troopers: Human, Zabrak, Cyborg, Mirialan

Summary:
Republic Unique: Miriluka, Mirrilian, Twilek
Suggested racepicks: Twilek is pretty uncommon for the Empire to have, and Miraluka and Mirialan are currently Republic only.

Conclusion:
Human and Zabrak are available for all classes, and thus not recommended if you wish to unlock new species.
Cyborg is pretty common, but still limited to some classes, so worth considering to make one of them as well.
Twilek is also recommended to make as a republic character, as they have more options for them.

This pretty much sums it up. Unfortunately it means even more playtime and more characters to 50 to do anything interesting. I was holding off making new characters hoping that it would open up race options, but having to play that race all the way up as one of it's base available classes means I need to log a lot of extra time to take advantage of this when it is available.

Faux, it's a ton of credits but you can also buy the race options if you don't want to level a certain race to make it available for another class. If you don't want to level another character just to unlock the one you want you could also start saving up now.

You are right. Given the current known price of a race unlock, approx 1,5 mil, one could also consider saving up money. But considering I was planning to go through all classes atleast once I just wanted to raise awareness about the race limitations as I haven't given it much thought up until posting this post.

Do the races give any tangible benefits or stat boosts (as in WoW for example), or is it simply a cosmetic/aesthetic choice? Obviously I have not played the game as of yet.

Purely cosmetic, and it can somewhat influence the way your story feels. E.g. In the empire, aliens ussually get frowned upon.

the only question i have is

1st character you get a race(chiss for exsample) to 50
2nd character you make a chiss on the republic side get him to 50
then you delete the 1st character. will you still able to make a chiss on the republic side and vis versa for the empire

Yes, once you unlock the race, it's unlocked forever. You can delete all of the chiss you have made, but will still be able to make them with every class

Why would you want to delete a lvl50 though? You get 8 character slots, and eventually even more according to Bioware at the guild summit.

P.s. Races will also be unlockable by credit purchase, so this guide is mostly aimed at the cashstrapped altoholics.

While 1.5 mil does seem to be a relatively small sum of cash for the racial option, I think I'll stick with one more 50 grind before I use the legacy system. Having an additional 50 gives you one more character to use in the relative set up tree and possibly additional options for other unlocks, like the class ability hand-down, dark-light stuff, and the extra legacy levels gained leveling the class...though granted, grinding cash through dailies on a level 50 is worth more legacy xp than getting a character through the lower levels.

I'm halfway to 50 with my one Republic character (for the race unlock), if I get there before 1.2 then I'll farm cash and more legacy xp with my existing Empire characters. I kinda hope I get one more week before the patch hits, but it seems to be looming very close now.
