My 2 credits...
Operatives/Scoundrels take time to come into their own. At first, your heals are limited, and your ability to do damage is hampered by the fact that you haven't gotten your hard hitting abilities yet.
Once you hit level 20, things start to turn around. Kolto Probe is the signature healing ability of the AC, and Laceration (Concealment) starts you down the path of insane damage. Unfortunately, you still won't really get powerful until later.
The level 50 Ops/Scn that I have seen in pvp absolutely rape...whether they are raid healing the entire team with Kolto Probe, or roflstabbing people to death as Concealment. Give it time. In an Operations environment, I see the Ops/Scn as taking the "best" raid healing spot and a solid boss dps/utility spot.
Sorcerers are stacked early on with CC built into their nuke, roflslam, shields, heals, and speed. They also do everything from range, where you have to get up close to hit people. You have to out-level their early advantages.
You might want to take direct control over your companion. Add her ability bar to your bottom row, hotkey it, and manually send her against your foes. I don't, but I don't mind letting my companion do what they want to do.
My final thought is you may just not like the type of play style an Agent/Smuggler brings to the table. It can be more demanding than other AC's in that you have to manage your energy levels AND Tactical Advantage.
