Jedi Sage

The mysteries of the Force are endless. A Jedi Sage, devoted to uncovering its esoteric secrets, knows this better than anyone. Sages are famed for their wisdom and empathy as much as for their powerful healing and defensive skills. In troubled times, a Sage brings together the insight of the past with raw power to change the flow of galactic events.

All Jedi Sages embrace the teachings of the Force and can opt to learn the art of the Seer, healing wounded allies and protecting them from harm--restoring their life force and literally pulling them out of danger; Telekinetics, distorting reality and moving massive waves of energy that tear apart a Sage's enemies; and Balance, deploying the power of the Force to enhance lightsaber techniques and debilitate foes in combat.

  • Class Role: Heal, Damage
  • Weapon: Lightsaber

If you like playing a Shadow Priest from WOW then you will like playing a Balance Sage.
If you like playing a Fire Mage from WOW then you will like playing a Tele Sage
If you like playing a Disc Priest/Resto Druid from WOW then you will like playing a Seer Sage.

The companion Qyzen Fess work just like a tank, so this let you stay back and enjoy healing/range dpsing without worrying about the ennemy coming at you. This way you can survive almost any fight in solo. You just have to keep him alive with some healing from time to time.

Sage healing is balanced it simply doesn't come into its own until you get talents like Resplendence once you are fully talented the class is very nice to heal with.

The sage healer (Seer) can be played reactively or pro actively although personally I feel they are stronger as a reactive healer. Very powerful in PvE and PvP alike.

The Jedi Sage is not a weak class what so ever. I guess to some people they need to add an for advanced player warning to it.... They are an amazing toon in SWTOR. Your first companion you receive on your starting area is a tank and in my opinion the best companion you get throughout your adventures. As a sage I solo almost all heroic 4's the game has to offer. CC atleat one add start with strongs and then work my way up the chain while healing my companion nothing could be easier as a Jedi Sage. As for the crew skills I read someone post what you want is biochem bioanaylsis and diplomacy with those 3 you are almost unbeatable. Make your own stims that last 2 hours and persist through death medical bandages that heal you and ur pet and only have a 90 sec cd vs 3 min cd and only healing you that u purchase from vendors they are a really oh crap button to get a big heal off instant. There is nothing wrong with the Sage what so ever. I guess that to some people they need to make the game as simple as they have made WoW but then again look at how blizzard is doing now with all the money they have lost to challenging players cause of how stupid they have made the game. With saying all of that best if luck to all of you and may the force be with the ones who need it....

Bro, none of the classes are weak, they are balanced and awesome in their own way and you have to play them right. Its true some of the classes have easier learning curve than others but that doesn't make others weak. One of my friends owned people with the Sage during beta.

This is a great guide for the Jedi Consular for everything you will need to know about raiding.

Their general PRIORITY LIST (Not rotation list) is:
1. Weaken Mind [DoT]
2. Mind Crush
3. Turbulence
4. Psychic Projection
5. Telekenetic Throw
6. Tidal Force
7. Telekinetic Wave
8. Disturbance

So even if a Sage goes full Balance there is still no more incentive to be in melee range or use their lightsaber?

I'm at level 28 and am not very good at healing yet. Can someone tell me how best to participate in group Heroics and Flashpoints? What abilities should I use and should I stand back and heal instead of fight? Thanks

I'm wondering tho, how 'squishy' Ill be -especially at the beginning as a sage Consular? I want to solo through my quests - and know it will help when I get my companion. We'll see this weekend. Love the comments - very helpful!

Keep force armor on the tank. The damage shield and the tanks mitigation will make. It easier the keep up with the damage. Rejuvenate for a quick heal. Then just keep the tank around 60% health during fights. Don't try to keep him at 100%. When you have time heal DPS. At your level the real problem is other players may not know there classes as well. So, your tank may not be good at keeping aggro your DPS might not know how keep their threat down. The best thing you can do is just sit back and heal and help DPS as appropriate your DOTs/Debuffs (Mind Crush, Force Stun) are very good to slip in with generating a whole lot of threat. And that is after you have determined you can keep up with healing necessary. Your priority should be Heal, CC Debuff, DPS.

This about sums them up....Been playing a seer sage and it's amazing...with tank companion neither of us die.

In response to TruPheats; The Jedi Sage is very easy to solo with. You will have no problems doing quests and even some group quests solo. With the help of Qyzen Fess, your trusty companion, of course!

The optimum DPS Skill tree currently is:

Agree, I'm playing Jedi sage and its great, class isn't week at all. Some times I just forgetting my companion is on the mission and getting in fights with yellow star mobs and surprisely I can defeat them and surrounded mobs without troubles. I like it, because been healer do not be week, it was in wow and was really stupid, hope here they not going to change it. Helear = non fighter in universe as SW without secondary skill will be disaster:)

If you want to use Tumult you can go melee.:)

The game isn't even out yet silly - how can you already supply some sort of optimum skill set? :P

Seer is very mana intensive healing class in my experience with beta. I would recommend using Bioanalysis / Biochemistry / Underworld Trading as your professions. You will want to use the Resolve Stims and keep these active at all times, and I believe the Efficacy Adrenals to be used as your 15sec short-duration buff for tough situations.

Like any other specialization, you have to be level 10 before you can get the quest to pick a specialization.

Out of my experience healing on the 3 available healing classes the Jedi Sage seems to be the most challenging for me. Supposedly its balanced but i personally dont know if it needs tweaking in the healing dept at low lvls. Then again it may be fine mid to late game.

I played jedi sage in beta. There were parts that I could not solo even with Fess. Maybe I am just a noob. It was more fun in groups anyways. I found Jedi Sage to be really weak. Difficult class. I may switch to shadow cuz I like stealth.
