Trained in superior tactics and weaponry, Commandos charge onto the battlefield with massive assault cannons, overwhelming their enemies with brute firepower. Whether taking out a bunker or driving back an Imperial charge with a hail of concussive bolts, the Commando?s high-powered hardware dominates the scene, laying waste to all who fall within its range.

All Commandos learn to use powerful assault cannons, and can opt to learn the skills of a Combat Medic, using proven Republic medical training to heal and protect allies; Gunnery, utilizing a variety of assault cannon loadouts to burn, crush and incapacitate enemies; and Tactics, specializing in explosives and weapons that penetrate a target's armor.

  • Class Role: Heal, Damage

If you like playing a from Hunter / Caster DPS WOW then you will like playing a Gunnery Commando - (Using Armor-Piercing Cell )
If you like playing a Warlock from WOW then you will like playing a Assault Specialist Commando - (Using Plasma Cell )
If you like playing a Holy Paladin from WOW then you will like playing a Combat Medic Commando - ( Using Combat Support Cell )

Its hammer shot. When you have Combat Support Cell active it creates a light hot type heal that you use on a friendly target. It also allows you to build up a healing buff to make your healing and damage more effective. Another bonus to hammer shot while in healing mode is the ability to use it on the move.

NDA has officially been lifted for beta testers ...

Been having a blast on my Commando! With multiple abilities that cause enemy knockdown, and being able to run-n-gun makes this class really shine against elite encounters and PvP.

Hotkey your grenades to your side mouse buttons, focus on run-n-gun techniques and 90% of the time enemies wont even make it to you, just watch out for elites, they are immune to the knockdown effects from the grenades.

I think Commandos really start to shine in the second flashpoint. The first one is just way too easy in the current beta .. and likely upon release. Once you get a few levels under your belt the flashpoints become quite a bit harder and it becomes necessary to have a designated tank and healer (tho dont think that the tank will always have all the mobs on him .. part of this game is survival, if you cant figure out how to keep yourself alive, you just may kill your whole group) Being able to spam cast time abilities, along with grenades makes for a lovely light show that your whole group will enjoy :)

Dont forget about your heal spell .. even if you go full DPS (which I did) dropping a few heals durning a boss fight will go a very long ways. I always tried to save energy for a single heal just incase this @#$% hit the fan in a group.

Question for the beta testers...

I was thinking of rolling a Commando Medic for a pvp healer. All the videos I have seen with the Commando healing look like they are spamming an ability with a green beam as their primary heal. Is this their most efficient/quickest heal? Not that pvp healers need another target, but that would seem like just another very easy way to identify the healer.

i got my title Captain at lv 32 after some traveling doing your class quest

Yeah, manorton is right, and the ability is unique to Commando/Mercenary. It doesn't single you as a healer any more than the bubbles that the Sage/Sorcerors get and the other class mechanics. IMO, its a really good ability that makes the Commando Unique.

Captain is awarded to my understanding from following your class quest...or you could jsut roll a smuggler and be default captain ;p

Like any other specialization, you have to be level 10 before you can get the quest to pick a specialization.
