IF you plan on participating in SPACE COMBAT i urge you to buy your GRADE 1 upgrades as soon as they become available (lvs 14-17). The full set would cost you $3,600.
These I bought from Ensing Brukes in the SouthWest corner of the Imperial Fleet (the first place you come to after your origin planet). She is in the same shop with ground mounts (speeder bikes yay!). To equip them press "C" for character screen. The tabs for Character, SHIP, and companion are at the bottom.
Grade 1 Beam Charger $600
Grade 1 Beam Generator $600
Grade 1 Energy Shield $650
Grade 1 Missile Magazine $700
Grade 1 Shield Regenerator $650
Grade 1 Ship Armor $500 ( i got this as a reward from the first space combat i did so you could skip this and save yourself the money)

-Space Combat for Dummies-
Objects in space have mass. So it's not like your normal gameplay where you can run right through another person. If you smash into a ship or an asteroid, you take damage.
Enemies starfighters coming head-on at you have priority over the ones who are flying away. Why? Cause their lasers are pointed AT YOU!
You do not fully control which direction you fly (unrealistic i know) basically you fly in a "channel" and just shoot stuff in sight.
Lasers are UNLIMITED (Left Mouse button Default) so press down on that mouse and hold it down through the whole freaking fight.....
Missles ARE LIMITED (Right mouse button default) so use them on Elite targets (yellow shield), capital ship turbolases, and shield generators.
Fleet Commendations are given for successful missions, you can buy stuff, like a full pilots uniform (takes a LOT) from a vendor behind the starship upgrades guy on the Imperial Fleet.

Is bad advise, your shields only recharge when you are not shooting. other then that good work!

From the SWTOR site:

The starships of the Imperial Navy are the product of centuries of military research and development. The Empire designed its fleet to destroy the Republic as quickly and efficiently as possible. During the years of the Great War, however, the Empire refined its design strategies. Co-opting newly discovered technologies and revising blueprints according to lessons learned, Imperial engineers built a new generation of starships. First among these, Imperial Intelligence commissioned the X70B-Phantom?the most low-profile, high-tech starship the galaxy has ever known. From its radar-resistant sleek exterior paneling to the next-generation navigation systems, the Phantom is so far ahead of its time that mass production would never be possible. More likely, the experimental prototypes built so far will be designated for critical Intelligence missions, and entrusted only to the most professional and responsible Imperial Agents.

In terms of design, this is one of the most gorgeous ships in the game. Both on the inside and on the outside. As to why does it look like a civilian cruiser, Keeper said so himself: A big deal of the agent's missions involve going undercover (hell, your first assignment in the game is to infiltrate a pirate ring) and having standard-issue imperial fighter-class jets would kinda give away said cover.

hence the design of the X-70 Phantom, built to resemble a civilian ship, but with all the firepower, and armoring of a battleship. Its sleek and clean design evokes everything the agent stands for, and is all in all, a great ship.

Its a shame other ships (Specially the Trooper and Bounty Hunter ones) don't have this much attention to detail.

This is the ship used by the Imperial Agent.

This is no prehistoric Naboo transporter. On the first look the design looks similar, but technically the ship is completely different. Where the Naboo ship has its engines, the X-70 has heavy blaster cannons, missile launchers and quite large missile depots (Doesn't look like the Naboo ship has weapons at all). The engines of X-70 are on the ships tail, have a completely different form and obviously use a different technology as they generate pink glowing stripes during flight while the Naboo engines just have a glowing ring around them. The Naboo transporter is also pointier than the X-70.

And even if it was intent to give both ships a similar design, then it might still make sense, even though the Naboo were surely no friends of the Sith, they might just have copied the design from conquered imperial planets (the Empire must have been defeated by the Republic at some time during the 3500 years between SWTOR and Episode I) like Palpatine and Darth Vader copied some republican technology and used them in their new empire (Those giant 4-legged robot tanks used in "The Empire strikes back" for example are of republican origin as you can see from the smaller models the Republic uses in SWTOR)

Or maybe the Naboo many years later thought it was a good idea for the purpose of their high priority targets and used the Fury class ship as a base model for their own? Phantom Menace is way later in time. Naboo might not have even been able to fly into space yet!

It is unfair to the other classes because of how cool this ship is. I feel bad, especially for the trooper class with their ugly ship.

Oddly reminiscent of the Naboo cruiser, hmm I wonder if they add Naboo in a future expansion how that idea will play out.
