Esseles Hard Mode how-to guide:
Finished it with vanguard tanking, commando and gunslinger dps-ing and sage (myself) healing. Our gear was mostly customizable pieces with Corellia mods and few odd PvP pieces (1 or 2 centurion per player).
Lieutenant Isric
- face him away from the group, he does pretty heavy conal AoE damage (Hail of Bolts). When entering the fight, have only the tank run straight to him, others hug walls cause he does his first Hail of Bolts 1 or 2 seconds into the fight
- try to get him as close to the back of the room as you can, there is where the adds will spawn; adds spawn 3 at a time on a timer; have tank AoE adds to pick up aggro. If you wipe and he spawns in the small room instead in front of it, that's the ideal place to tank him
- our group wiped a few times due to enrage or multiple add groups being spawned. We found it was best if all of us stay in the 8 meter range (tank facing him towards the small room, the rest of us behind the boss) for AoE healing and add control
Ironfist
- tank him on the furthest side of the bridge to the right - whatever you do there you will not aggro adds so you can kill them after killing the boss
- assign 2 interrupters to interrupt Headshot ability; it hits for around 9k and the boss casts it approximately every 8 seconds or so; this has to be interrupted every single time
- during the fight he will channel Missile Salvo 3 times (uninterruptable). We first tried to run around to avoid the damage (missiles hit areas where you are with a 1 sec delay so are avoidable), however we enraged him every time. So instead of avoiding Missle Salvo, we tried to clutter for AoE heals and continued DPS-ing him and downed him in the 1st attempt
- he will also charge random player every now and then - charge hits for around 2-3k so is not a problem to heal through
- we found the encounter easy once we got the interrupt sequence right and decided to sit through Missile Salvo and continue DPS-ing him
ISS-7 Guardian Battledroid
- make sure entire party hugs the central core cause he does knockback every now and then; other than that this fight is tank and spank and shamefully easy
ISS-944 Power Droid
- run from the boss and kite him when he does Overcharge (red circle around the boss), other than that just DPS him down
Vokk
- you have stay on your toes for Lightning Storm - he will cast it on one player (purple circle on the ground) and that player has to move right away - it hits for around 10k approx 2 secs after cast
- he does Double Saber Toss that hits 2 players at random; it can also hit one player twice
- in this fight it really helped to stay fairly close for AoE heals and making sure no-one is struck by Lightning Storm. We wiped only once cause I fell asleep mid cast and got hit by the Lightning Storm
Overall, the instance was quite fun. For some reason we had most trouble with the first boss cause he deals a ton of damage, spawns adds very fast and enrages even faster. We had the feeling Jedi Guardian tank would be better for this encounter due to stronger AoE abilities. Two bots in the middle of the instance are really no challenge at all - the only difference we found between normal and hard mode is more health they have. Vokk ended being easier than expected - having a sage healer helps because Force Armor can soak in almost entire Saber Toss damage. Make sure to have it on everyone before Vokk casts Saber Toss.
