Trooper mirror is Explosive Round

This is the trooper mirror of http://www.torhead.com/ability/cj0sTEg (Explosive Round). It is a quick, moderate damage blast that is mainly used as a setup for other attacks. On standard and weak targets, it knocks them down, enabling other abilities that require immobilization. I use it as an opener for two reasons, one it buys you a bit of CC to gather multiple mobs or a breather. Second, it does a small amount of AoE damage, handy for using on Strong targets in packs to ensure you have control over them. The AoE is not great, combined with a high Resource cost, means this is a rotation move, rather than a masher.
