As a tip when using Back Blast in PvE encounters even when you have aggro, use the Thermal Grenade to knock a weak enemy down. Once it's on the ground you can easily circle behind it to back blast while it's getting up. Obviously this doesn't work on "Strong" or "Elite" level enemies since they won't get knocked down.

Flash Grenade and Dirty Kick work for the same purpose as well, and they may also work on Strong and Elite mobs.
