This is the first ability you get that really makes you feel like a tank. It has plenty of uses, but is best served in PvP to protect the squishies that fight near you and your healers in flashpoints. You should have this up on your companion otherwise. In order for the effect to stay active you must stay in range of the person you are protecting.
