Originally, Sprint is a trained ability for all players at level 15. This grants 35% increased movement speed when not in combat. This buff was lost on death.

Updates to Sprint since release:
Patch 1.12 - If Sprint was active when a player died, it now remains active when the player is revived.
Patch 1.2 - The Sprint ability is now available at level 1.

Since Patch 1.5 Free-to-Play:
Free-to-play players get Sprint at level 15, similar to pre-patch 1.2.
Preferred players and Subscribers continue to get Sprint at level 1 as normal.

Other notes:
A form of Legacy Sprint was originally meant to be worked into the game as a legacy perk as part of patch 1.2. Information is scarce, but Legacy Sprint would most likely grant Sprint to your legacy in roughly the same way Sprint is granted to players at level 1 currently, except you probably would've had to pay to unlock it.

As of Patch 2.3.1:

Free-To-Play players can now train Sprint at level 10.

Excellent ability. It functions in a stance style, so that you can just toggle it on and not worry about it again. Loved it on my Inquisitor especially when stacking Force Speed in short bursts on top of it.

This will be fixed in a future patch. The ability will no longer be disabled when you die and will remain active. I believe it's patch 1.1.2

an amazing ability helps alot when travaling befor you are able to get your speeder bike.

This ability is good period. Even after you are level 50+ and have ++2500% speeder bike movement simply because this one works anytime you are not in combat but are in flashpoints/ops/WZ. Since you cannot use the speeder in some of those situations (most situations in ops/FP and never in WZ) it makes life better.

Stealth will not de-activate or otherwise affect Sprint, but if you enable Sprint while you're stealthed, your Stealth will be broken.
Found that one out the fun way :P

Either old data or just incorrect. This does not break stealth.

Not anytime you die (especially in PvP Battles), you need to re-enable this. In addition, this ability is off the global cooldown (GCD).

Does this ability stack with Battlefield Training on Tactics Vanguard?

I don't see why not, neither skill is flagged as unique effect not stacking with others
