This ability is so ridiculously useful when soloing, and it seems to work on just about everything. Against difficult targets, it even helps out as an extra ghetto interrupt of sorts.

Seriously, the Consular class is the coolest in the game. There you, defeating the bad guys in manly Jedi hand-to-hand combat, and suddenly there's a girl doing a burlesque show. Every 10 seconds.

Actually seriously: this "stun" allows the use of Tumult, and lets a nimble soloing Shadow get around behind the mob for Shadow Strike. Be aware that Tharan must channel the hologram, so if you're in a fight that requires extra healing or extra dps (whichever stance you've triggered for him), consider taking this off autocast.
