As of patch 1.4, this ability costs no Force and affects targets in a 15-meter cone in front of the player instead of all around them. It also has a new animation and executes with no delay.

Funny ability, can knock players off ledges , also kill elites by pushing them over cliffs but unfortunately you might not be able to reach the corpse to loot it which is a shame, could have brought some tactical use of the enviroment into play, but you never know if you would miss out on a good drop

Oh and if you push an enemy over a ledge but they survive, they will run all the way back to you aggro'ing any mobs they meet on the way!.
If you are brave this could be done deliberately, if you have very strong AOE to lure dozens of enemy to you for easy farm, on the 2 occasions this happened to me though, the enemies wer far too strong for me (Sage) I believe this was on Nar Shaddaa where there is an area near the start with humans on 2 floors, I suppose you could use this on enemies that are several levels lower than you though

Speaking as a Shadow-Infiltration @ 39th level playing v2.8:
In PvE, Some Lessons Learned are:
- If I am in close melee with a target attacking melee, I will Force Wave and then follow up with ?Throw?. The knocked back target will work their way back to engage me at 50% speed. This cheats the target out of being able to attack and the walk time adds to your force pool. (30 Points of Force to cast verses 5 seconds x?s 8 points = 40 points of force regenerated = ~10 points net gain).
- Do not use Force Wave against a ranged target as you will have to chase them to get back into range for your next attack (because they will stay put where they land).
- Do not wait for the target to stand up to cast Throw. You are wasting the Force Wave knockdown feature.
- As another said, if you knock a target off a ledge, be ready! That mob will make its way back to you and gather up all the other mobs it meets until there is a lynch mob looking to string you up!
- Force Wave is an ability interrupt to use when ?Mind Snap? is still in CD.

In PvP, Force Wave is powerful. Some lessons learned are:
- Angle is important. You want to get your target lined up directly between you and your desired knockback spot for the target. That will get you maximum knockback distance. If you cannot get the correct angle, the target will get knocked back, but NOT in the manner you want/need. Wrong angle = Do not cast until correct angle. Staying against a wall will help with getting the right angle.
- Wave is great for ?peeling? away attackers from a team mate.
- Wave is great for interrupting the opposing team from capping a node when there are more than one trying to cap the node at once.

A great ability when you need a second or two to cast something.

This is an AoE (Area of Effect) ability that will damage all enemies within 8 meters and knock them back.

There's about a 0.5s delay in activation on this ability, which can make prediction hard unless paired with a target who is already immobile. Force Wave is also the weakest knockback in the game, with the least momentum behind it. Aside from the obvious 'knock someone into hazards or down cliffs' component of all knockback abilities, Force Wave should be used judiciously to some breathing room in PvP, such as immediately before a Cloak.
